Real Estate’s sixth album, Daniel, was recorded over nine days in Nashville with producer Daniel Tashian. The 11 songs blend their early uninhibited wonder with adult perspectives.
Martin Courtney discovered Tashian through his daughter, a fan of Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour. Despite distinct styles—a Grammy-winning country-pop producer and an indie rock band—they found an instant connection. Inspired by R.E.M.’s Automatic for the People and ’90s soft-rock radio, Tashian guided them back to their roots.
While discussing titles, they jokingly suggested “Daniel,” reflecting both humor and their growth as a band that can take music seriously without losing their playful spirit.
