The Doctor Who episode "Revenge Of The Cybermen" originally aired on April 19th, 1975 as the season 12 finale. Unfortunately, like many television soundtracks from the 1960s, 70s and 80s, the original master tapes of Carey Blyton's score were not saved. The only surviving version is a set of four 7" tapes at 7.5ips, which were used for the composer's copy. From these tapes, we have digitally transferred the music for this release. However, despite the composer's best efforts, parts of the score were not used due to the production team's disapproval. The BBC Radiophonic Workshop's Peter Howell was brought in to add some electronic elements and arrange additional cues for parts two and three, but even some of these did not make the final cut.

Carey's original score, included for the first time in this release, is presented exactly as written. In addition, we have included alternative and "enhanced" cues from Carey Blyton's tapes. This complete soundtrack, compiled and produced by Mark Ayres, features one of the most distinctive, mysterious, and misunderstood scores in Doctor Who history. We are delighted to finally bring it to your ears! Other releases in this series include The Daleks, Survival, The Invasion, The Five Doctors, The Sun Makers, The Visitation, and Time and the Rani. Collect all eight limited vinyl pressings and the spines will make a composite image of the TARDIS!
