The Queen Is Dead는 영국의 록 밴드 The Smith의 세 번째 스튜디오 앨범입니다. Morrissey가 디자인한 앨범 커버에는 1964년 영화 L'Insoumis의 Alain Delon이 등장합니다. 2013년 Queen Is Dead는 NME Greatest Albums of All Time 목록에서 역대 최고 기록으로 선정되었습니다.

앨범은 주로 밴드의 1985년 앨범 Meat Is Murder를 제작한 엔지니어 Stephen Street와 함께 작업한 Morrissey와 Marr에 의해 제작되었습니다. Street는 "Morrissey, Johnny와 나는 정말 좋은 협력 관계를 가지고 있었습니다. 우리는 모두 거의 같은 나이이고 같은 종류의 일을 하고 있었기 때문에 스튜디오에서 모두가 상당히 편안하게 느껴졌습니다."라고 회상했습니다.
