The Winter Of Mixed Drinks は、バンドのセカンドアルバム The Midnight Organ Fight をサポートする大規模なツアーの後、スコットランドの Fyfe にある孤立した美しい海岸沿いの町 Crail で 7 週間にわたって書かれました。ドラマーのグラント・ハッチソンは次のように述べています。多くのトラックには間違いなく航海のテーマがあり、海が大きな役割を果たしている限界まで自分自身をテストする感覚があります。」
