A few years ago, Angel Olsen created somethingscosmic, a new label that would give her the freedom to release music in her own way, with the support of her longtime partners at Jagjaguwar. The label's second release, 'Cosmic Waves Volume 1,' is a unique compilation where each side features artists selected by Olsen. Side A showcases their own song choices, while side B highlights songs chosen by Olsen and recorded by her. This dynamic approach not only showcases Olsen's incredible imagination, but also highlights the diverse and talented artists in her constellation. Listening to Olsen's take on these artists' music not only reveals her range as an artist, but also the many influences that have shaped this collection.
