Panic! At The Disco's Vegas upbringing is palpable on Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die!, their 4th album. From its upbeat and drum-driven synths, to the playful, festive lyrical content, to the Rat Pack-inspired cover art, to its title (a line from Hunter S. Thompson's Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas), the band finally owns up to their hometown's magnificence. Frontman/songwriter Brendon Urie reflects: "I'd gone to a club in Vegas and was overwhelmed by the beat and people celebrating life. I'd been cynical, but I saw its beauty. I was in love. I wrote 'Vegas Lights' as an ode." The album was largely recorded on Arturia/Moog synthesizers, which Urie and drummer Spencer Smith had been collecting. "I'd get these sounds in my head, but didn't know how to output them," says Urie. Producer Butch Walker
