Unknown Mortal Orchestra "the Blue Record" was born when the band's frontman began exploring the acoustic guitar, initially finding it a bit too "twee." However, after being offered opportunities to play acoustic sessions, he embraced the challenge to make the sound fresh and unique.

Inspired by Arthur Lee's acoustic prowess, he developed his skills during radio sessions and live performances. Fans quickly took notice of this captivating new direction. The Blue Record is a collection of acoustic songs recorded straight to tape in the band's basement, with a one-mic setup.
