Warren Zevon's self-titled album, released in 1976, is considered a Rock & Roll classic. The album features guest appearances from Jackson Browne, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Phil Everly, Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Bonnie Raitt, and many more. Zevon had already been in the music industry for 10 years, writing songs for The Turtles and backing up Phil Everly, before releasing his own album. Unlike his peers in the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, Zevon's music was full of bitterness and dark humor. Despite the glossy production of Jackson Browne, the songs on Warren Zevon conveyed a bitter heart. Yet, Zevon's songs were also intelligent, witty, and had an advanced melodic sense. This album proved that Zevon was a major talent and remains a dark but delightful Pop classic.
