Sleater-Kinney - No Cities to Love Vinyl Record
After a 10-year hiatus, Sleater-Kinney, comprised of Brownstein, vocalist/guitarist Corin Tucker, and drummer Janet Weiss, have returned with their newest record. Despite their legacy as pioneers in the Pacific Northwest riot grrrl scene of the 90s, the trio doesn't dwell on the past. Instead, they embrace reinvention, igniting a chemistry that brings forth new sounds and stories. Weiss explains, "Taking a break brought them closer, desperate to reach together again for their true expression." The result is an unrestrained record that tackles love, power, and redemption. Produced by long-time collaborator John Goodmanson, who worked on the band's earlier albums, including their breakout 1997 album Dig Me Out, No Cities to Love is a formidable and melodic exploration of themes like greed, power, and powerlessness. As Tucker states, it gives a voice to those who struggle to be heard against the dominant culture.
