McDonald and Giles - Vinyl Record 200g
After co-founding King Crimson and playing on In the Court of the Crimson King, Ian McDonald and Michael Giles left the band at the end of 1969 and made one album together, released on Island in 1970. McDonald and Giles is that album, and it has been a cult favorite among progressive rock collectors ever since.
The music is gentler and more pastoral than Crimson, but every bit as ambitious. Peter Giles plays bass, Steve Winwood adds organ and a piano solo on the Turnham Green passage of Suite in C, and McDonald moves between flute, saxophone, keyboards and guitar. The whole second half belongs to Birdman, a 21-minute suite with orchestral arrangements by Mike Gray.
This Panegyric reissue is cut from a new transfer of the original master, the first since the album's original release, and pressed on 200-gram vinyl in a gatefold jacket. A fine companion to any King Crimson shelf.
