2024's Top 20 selling vinyl with one "far out" surprise!

Every year, we look back to see what sold throughout the year, and there are always surprises mixed in with the expected favorites. Usually, new releases take up the most spots, but reissues, especially on color vinyl, were very popular this year.

One big surprise stands out:

At #5, and 27 years after his death, a John Denver release took over this year. One huge reason is the scarcity of his records in the US, but we found the greatest hits record, John Denver's "His Ultimate Collection," made by Sony Records, that is licensed for the European market. We imported these and could not keep them in stock. Each time, we ordered a few more, and each time, they sold out. This record would have been #1 for us if we had ordered more often. What made this even more odd is that people frequently bought this record with other titles of very different ages and genres. Maybe the John Denver was a gift for an older relative, or perhaps this shows the timeless popularity of a well-written song.
